Saturday 24 November 2012

We have some new additions to the shop. They're not shiny products made of gorgeousness for your ears, but functional things made of php. Most of these are all for the main shop only, the mobile shop will be catching up at some point next year.

First up - reviews (main site only). You can now review a purchased product for 10 Reward Points to put towards future purchases. If you include a link* to a nice, clear pic of yourself wearing your plugs/earstuds/whathaveyou then you get an extra 10 Reward Points.

Videos are now displayed with product images on the product page (items with videos, anyway).

Mobile and main site - we've also added a 'Make A Custom Request' button on each product. If there's an item you see that isn't in your size or preferred colour, or you want to know whether some custom artwork will work, then press the button and fill in the form.

Navigation buttons to flick through products, instead of perusing through the category page. Might put a nice swooshy interface on these for you tablet users but that's a next year thing.

There's some other bits as well not worthy of a paragraph, like a random product thingy, special offer dooberry, for example. Mobile search works again, too. Sorry to babble, we're just pleased that its all pretty much finally done after trying to get it all together for so long :D

*We were going to have an image uploader but experience has taught us that if you put an image uploader on the internet it will be ... abused. We recommend for your image-hosting needs, but you can use anyone you want, as long as we can download it and pop it on our server :)

Any probs with the site then please contact us - hello (at) lovelyplugly (dot) co (dot) uk

Hello bloggy pluggy people! We were going to have a Black Friday 10% off sale thingy, but thought that a Purple Friday sale with 15% off everything* would be nicer.

See that discount coupon code on your right? Well, it can't iron or make the tea, but it can be used on and our Etsy shop for a lovely 15% off discount. It's valid from Friday 23 November to Monday 26 November 2012.

It'll also give you a further 15% off our Plug O' The Month, the lovely Ice Planet of Hoth Plug, so there's some nice savings there. And that's it. Coupon codes aren't very interesting to write about, unless they make the tea.

*offer excludes Gift Vouchers

Saturday 17 November 2012

Been waiting for years and years for Black Mesa to come out, and was well chuffed when it finally got released but, sadly, due to a lack of time, I have been unable to actually play it. Have managed to install it, mind, and make some new plugs named after the first level -- Anomalous Materials.

The administrator is very concerned that we get a conclusive analysis of this sample. I gather they went to some length to get it.
  • Handmade.
  • Available in 10mm (00g) - 30mm (1-3/16").
  • 316L Surgical Steel
  • 10.5mm (3/8") or 12mm (1/2") long, depending on batch.
  • Domed RESIN front flare.
  • Iridescent rainbows flash underneath iridescent rock.
Available in pink and blue versions, they're waiting for you. In the test chamber shop ...

Tuesday 16 October 2012

Glass is one of our favourite materials and we initally wanted to make all our plugs out of it, but it didn't used to play nice with some of the materials we used. Such a bummer.

However, we've been testing it out with some different stuff for quite a while now. We're well chuffed with the results, and will be slowly but surely be using glass for as many sizes as we can.

We won't be able to accommodate all sizes /yet/ but we'll try our best to do so.

Sizes currently available with glass fronts (will be updated as we add more):
5mm (4g)
6mm (2g)
8mm (0g)
10mm (00g)
11mm (7/16")
12mm (~1/2")
14mm (9/16")
16mm (5/8")
18mm (11/16")

Available in our shop now.
You'll be pleased to know that we're not putting prices up :)

We've been testing out a new resin for a while and are very pleased with the results, so pleased that we're going to start using it on all plugs.  Not only is it better but we don't have to do that annoying thing with the backs anymore, so we're removing the 50p surcharge for double flares \o/

Thursday 4 October 2012

As it's World Space week from 4 - 10 October, we thought that it would be nice to do some more stuff with space things and plugs, so we made these glittery, starry Space is the Place plugs.

A deep, layered field of colourful stars with bright flashes of colour. Choice of colours.
  • Handmade.
  • Available in 8mm (0g) - 24mm (1" Small).
  • 316L Surgical Steel
  • 10.5mm (3.8") or 12mm (1/2") long, depending on batch.
  • Resin front flare (domed, concave or flat - your choice. Concave flares available for sizes 10mm / 00g and up)
  • Make your own little universe

Friday 21 September 2012

These were made a while back for a friend who wanted some Chromatic Death plugs in Barclays Bank blue.

We liked them so much that we decided to make them part of our permanent range, and our friend christened them 'Overkill' because if this plug was a band, it would be Motörhead. Löud.
  • Handmade.
  • Available in 3mm (8g) - 24mm (1" Small).
  • 316L Surgical Steel.
  • 10.5mm (3/8") or 12mm (1/2") long, depending on batch.
  • Resin front flare (domed, concave or flat - your choice. Domed look best. Concave flares available for sizes 10mm / 00g and up)
  • Dedicated to Wurzel.
  • Available from our shop from £5.99

Thursday 20 September 2012

Our little file server/back-up server died over the weekend, corrupted our data and made us sad :( We did have a backup but that drive broke over the weekend too. Le sigh. Then our shop's webhosts went a bit feral, so we had to quickly move to a new one.

But, yes, the shop has returned and it's running like a dream now (fingers crossed). It'll take about 48 hours for it to settle on the new server, as there are two lovelyplugly.coms at the mo and the internet gets a bit confused. should work now as well.

The email address are currently non-functioning, but that should be sorted out in a few days. Never fear, if you do need to contact us then our will always be there for you.

Many thanks for your on-going patience, we really appreciate it <3

Tuesday 18 September 2012

We are currently experiencing some awful issues with our shop's web host. We are now in the process of going Battlestar Galactica to a new server -- in the meantime you can use our Etsy shop. We do apologise for any inconvenience :(

Wednesday 25 July 2012

As it's been lovely and sunny we've made ourselves a camp outside and are using it as an office. We've been pretty productive today as well and there's been a few more colourful additions and adjustments to the Pick N Mix custom plugs section.

We've got rid of the similarities between the Koi and the Mermaid Tail plugs and made the Koi scale pattern more ornate and scalloped. The old-style ones might be back with a new name, depending on demand and all that.

Earthquake and Tiger Stripe custom plugs are now listed and ready to rock and roll.

Tomorrow looks like another nice day out in the office, so we've just got a few more patterns to sort out then we can start on something else :)

Tuesday 24 July 2012

We wanted to expand the Glitter Pick N Mix a bit, but found it a bit overwhelming to go through, plus it's a bit hard to envisage what each type would look like when they're done. And we didn't want to go through the palaver of learning Flash for what would have been a nifty interactive interface, because we'd much rather make plugs.

What we'll be doing, slowly but surely, is making a seperate listing for each pattern type that'll be accompanied by nice previews of what the finished result would look like. Tis a bit of a process, but we have already have new, expanded listings for

We'll be bringing out some new textures/glitters/shiny things once we've done all the patterns, and there'll be a couple of new patterns as well, maybe even some different colour patterns -- who knows?

Tuesday 17 July 2012

We've been sorting out our server with the assistance of our lovely hosts and have a much nippier site :) We've also made a few adjustments -- some of them are nice. Some of them aren't.

We'll do the not-so-nice one today.

We've had to readjust the price tiers as, due to the sheer amount of sizes and options we offer, they were taking hours to administer and it all turned into a bit of an admin nightmare. Our Etsy shop was also growing out of control and something needed to be done, as the whole operation was turning into something resembling a government IT project (inefficient, doesn't quite work as it should, chaos all round).

Anyway, most prices are now rounded up to the nearest £1, which won't make a difference to most of you, but some people may find that their preferred size has gone up in price a bit. Conversely, some other people will find that their preferred size has actually gone down in price.

Many apologies if this causes confusion and sadface, especially as there was an all-round price rise only in April, but unfortunately it was absolutely, positively, definitely neccessary.

On  the good side of things, we've also made a pretty hack stock level check thing that works quietly in the background, and indicates whether your preferred size is in stock when you order your plugs -- if it's not in stock it won't be displayed. No more having to check a stock level page, it's all done automatically now. Well, it should be, but if you experience any problems or the site starts acting in a bizarre manner, then please let us know.

Here is a quick, at-a-glance price list that I must print out and put in my organiser because people ask me how much things cost and I can never remember.

Monday 16 July 2012

Not had any new products for a while, so we'll start off with these bad boys - Moon Custom Plugs.

You have a wide choice of colours available to choose from, all of which combine uniquely together in a cool chemistry thing and make these cratered, colourful beauties. Each one is very individual, but we do try and match pairs up as best as we can.

Not only is there a wide variety with the colours, but you also have a choice of the usual front and flare types for the surgical steel plugs. Fronts are finished off with a smooth glass-like resin -- for best results get these with domed fronts.

We're also offering these as skinfills for silicone tunnels -- the front of these cover the entire front surface of the tunnel.

Sizes for both skinfills and surgical steel plugs start from 8mm (0g) and go up to 30mm (1-3/16"). The surgical steel variety can be purchased here, and you can get the skinfills here.

Sunday 17 June 2012

So we've been playing about with various materials and colours for our Supernova Remnant plugs and hope to have a good variety of most splendid colours available to you very soon.

You may have noticed from the picture that we're now making Supernova Remnant skinfills, for those of you who love the combination of silicone and shiny thingies. Lovely. Not available in the shop yet (might put the pictured ones up) but you can, as always, order these by custom request :)

Friday 1 June 2012

Hello pluggy people  :)

We've been a bit snowed-under the past few weeks and haven't really been able to get time to update the blog, let alone make our wonderfully purple Queen's 60th Jubilee plugs, which was a bit of a bummer. We did, however, get time to sort you out this little coupon code.

Have a great weekend <3

Tuesday 22 May 2012

We've been adding a few more items to our little Custom Plug department, and can now offer Nice Nebula and Space is Deep plugs in the flares and two colours of your choice.

Now, we've been asked a few time what the differences between Nice Nebulas and Space is Deep plugs are, because they are pretty similar, yet quite different at the same time. Pics have Nice Nebula on the left, Space is Deep on the right.

These are a cut-down, lighter version of our Space is Deep plugs, hence them being a quid cheaper. Content-wise, they're just one layer of nebulae with the usual stars.

Nice Nebulas are available in all sizes from 6mm /2g and up, and look pretty with all types of front flare.

These consist of layered nebulae and stars, are prettier than the Nice Nebulas but come up a bit heavier than our other plugs.

We can make these from sizes 8mm / 0g and up, but they may get heavy at around the 20mm / ~3/4" mark. These look best with domed flares, and don't work at all with concave flares :(

And introducing ... CODENAME: NEBULOUS

Might keep the Nebulous name, might not. Anyho, these are just simple, iridescent nebula -- you may recognise these if you've bought a pair of space-like plugs from us in the past couple of months as we've been decorating the rears with these.

We've had some enquiries about adding these to the Lovely Plugly plug family, and, yeah, we think that we'll be doing these as fully-customisable plugs, with your choice of colours and flares. Might even be able to get these down to 5mm / 4g. Coming soon, anyway.

Special thanks to our custom requester for giving us this educational opportunity :)

Wednesday 16 May 2012

We've been playing about with types of front flares for quite a while now, but were limited by our old shop and couldn't fit them in :( Now we've got the big shop it's time for these different flare-types to go into the big wide world.

We'll go from left to right here ...

These have slightly-domed fronts, much the same as our bog-standard plugs, except the front flare on this is a couple of mm bigger, giving the illusion that you're a size bigger. Which is nice if you want bigger plugs but can't go up a size due to work, family, what-have-you.

IMPORTANT: We do NOT recommend you wear these if you have any allergies to acrylic or resins.

These are currently available for sizes 3mm / 8g up to 16mm / 11/16", with larger sizes coming along soon.

Domed for nice, magnifying effects :3 These are the standard flares that we've been making for ages and ages -- if you've purchased a pair of plugs from us before they would have these flares on.

Available from size 3mm / 8g up to 30mm / 1-3/16".

It's hard writing things about flares, it's even harder trying to make them sound interesting as they won't give you super-powers, or find your keys or do the housework for you. So we'll just say that these flares are flat on the front, none of that doming nonsense here, and they look very nice.

Available from size 3mm / 8g up to 30mm / 1-3/16".

These plugs have their shiny contents set deep within the plug and have fabby concave fronts, great if you fancy something a little bit different.

Available from size 10mm / 00g up to 30mm / 1-3/16". We'll probably be able to do 8mm / 0g as well, really.

We'll be adding these flare types as an option to most of our plugs in the shop, but if you see something in the shop that hasn't got the flare-type you want then please feel free to send us a custom request :)

Tuesday 15 May 2012

G'wan ... give these a home.

These aren't real bits of moon rock, they're an 'artist's abstract impression of moon rock'.

Slighty reduced as there was a tiny little renegade-glitter-incident -- one plug has a piece of green microglitter and the other has a few bits of blue interference micro glitter (hmph, not even matching). They don't show that much unless the light really catches them, and even then they're not too bad.
  • Handmade and handpainted.
  • 316L Surgical Steel.
  • 20mm (~3/4") with 22mm (7/8") clear, slightly-domed resin front flares.
  • 10.5mm (3/8") long
  • Like moons in your lobes.
You can buy this particular pair from our shop or on Etsy for £13.50 -- they're ready now and can't wait to pose happily in someone's ears.

Need a different size or different flares? Double flares and sizes 6mm / 2g up to 30mm / 1-3/16"are available from our shop and there's a few sizes on Etsy, as well as faux plugs.

Friday 4 May 2012

Keyboard update -- space bar has settled, keyboard now makes an annoying, slightly high-pitched sound whenever I type.
Abstract moon painted in the style of a Pokeball.

Handmade and handpainted.
316L Surgical Steel.
Single flared with clear resin front flares.
10.5mm (3/8") or 12mm (1/2") long, depending on batch.
That's no moon, that's a Pokemoon.

Available from our shop in sizes 8mm / 0g up to 30mm / 1-3/16".

Thursday 3 May 2012

My space bar is on the way out and I just felt the need to quickly complain about having to smack it with the force of 1,000,000 elephants before swiftly moving on to the main topic ...

So, yes, we've revamped the Glitter Pick N Mix a wee bit and it's now available to those of you who like plugs from size 6mm / 2g up to 30mm / 1-3/16", as well as faux plugs. You can now quickly select what base you would like, pick a print to go over it then we'll make you a nice 316L surgical steel plug of you choices. Simple as that.

Here are the bases and prints that are currently available for mixing and matching. We'll be adding on to these until it all gets out of control like it usually does.

Don't see what you want? Send us a custom request and we'll see what we can do :)

At some point I have to learn Flash and do a nice, interactive thingee that'll show off your customisations live, but I've been putting off learning Flash since the turn of the century and it seems a good job for the Padawan.

Tuesday 1 May 2012

We thought that we'd put some different types of faux plugs through some gruelling testing. They've been worn constantly, slept in, showered in, dropped in hot tea -- we're not very nice to our test subjects, really.

We've been "simulating the continous dropping of jewellery onto a hard stone floor", but maybe got a bit over-zealous with the amount of force applied as we've managed to bend a few, as seen on the photo on the right. They're made of surgical steel, which is a bit of a git to bend at the best of time, so this bending was quite impressive, as was the toughness of the fronts \o/

We were so heavy-handed that one of them even snapped at the base and can't be used for testing anymore (the fronts are fine, mind, just a bit tatty round the edges from being beaten into submission).

Farewell, test Ice Planet of Hoth faux plug, we'll miss ya, little fella.

Monday 30 April 2012

Our abstract plugs have been selling nicely, and we've had quite a few custom requests in different colours, all of which were fab TBH. So we've had to readjust the listings a bit -- rather than fill up the shop with millions of types of abstracts, we've done a few custom listings where you can pick the design and colours, then we make them for you.

Abstract Blobs: Bubbly blobs of colour.
Abstract Faux Stone: Fake stone to match your outfit.
Abstract Flowers: Flowers for every occassion.*

These are available in the shop now in a wide variety of colours from sizes 8mmm (0g) up to 30mm (1 3/16").

*These are no longer available due to some unforeseen technical issues -- working on a way around this.

Thursday 26 April 2012

These were a custom request for something 'iris-y', which was a right result as we're still enjoying the joy of paint and blobby things. Come up lovely, these did, must make more.

Purple and yellow abstract blobs in the form of an iris.
  • Handmade and handpainted.
  • Available in 8mm (0g) - 30mm (1 1/16").
  • 316L Surgical Steel 10.5mm (3.8") or 12mm (1/2") long, depending on batch.
  • Domed, clear resin front flare.
  • Irises. They're not just for spring anymore.
We'll be adding these on to our catalogue over the next few weeks, but if you can't wait until then you can make a custom request using this handy form.

Wednesday 25 April 2012

Fake plugs. They're not plugs, but they're not earrings either. They're quite possibly something else altogether but, regardless of what they are, we get asked about them a lot so we make them now.

Ignore the bit on the photo that says they're 1.6mm, that would be due to brain running in neutral at 2AM whilst semi-watching The West Wing. They're really 1.2mm (16g).

This fake plug is like the surface of a magical pond -- it has a blue, shimmering background covered in rainbow glitter flakes and bits of prismatic micro-glitter that catch the light.

316L Surgical Steel
1.2mm (16g) with 7mm (5/8") front flares
6mm (1/4") stem length.
Slightly domed, clear front flares
Rainbow flakes change colour depending on light and angle

These Bright Water faux plugs are available in the shop now, as are the Sunset Waters. Also, we can do a wide variety of things on these -- theoretically we should be able to put anything we currently do at 6mm (2g) on these, if you're interested then make a request :)

Monday 23 April 2012

It's great when we get custom requests for things over 20mm cos they're awesomely fun to do. So much fun that we're starting to keep 22mm up to 30mm in stock now.

These were done in acrylic at our client's request. These are technically One of a Kind as we're not making any more of these in acrylic, but we can do them in the usual 316L surgical steel (heavy, working on this).
  • Handmade and handpainted.
  • Black double flared acrylic
  • 25mm (1")
  • Domed, clear resin front flares.
  • Nebulous domed backs.
  • Nebulae subtley change colour depending on light and angle.

Sunday 22 April 2012

Wonderful, watery plug in vivid colours that make me go all happy-face. Greens, purples and blues flash at you, depending on light and angle.
  • Handmade.
  • 316L Surgical Steel
  • Slightly-domed, clear resin front flares.
  • A colourful shimmering ocean of oh yeah.
  • Bonus YouTube video.
These are currently available at our shop in sizes 3mm (8g) and up.
